When Joy Points the Way: A Practical Framework for Purpose

A recording from Stefanie and Jen Benford's live video

I’m feeling so grateful this week.

Jen Benford invited me onto her Divergent Talent Alchemist Live, and what unfolded was one of those conversations that stays with you long after the call ends. Jen has a rare gift for creating spaces that feel safe, warm, and deeply human — and her community showed up with that same energy.

We opened with a grounding exercise to help everyone “arrive,” and from there, the conversation moved into some of my favorite territories: joy, identity, burnout, and how we find our way back to ourselves when life pulls us off course.

Here are a few of the themes we explored together:

💛 Joy as Data

Those small sparks — the moments when your body softens, your energy lifts, or you feel genuinely alive — they’re not random. They’re information. Over time, they form patterns. And those patterns point to purpose.

🌿 Identity Beyond Roles

I shared my own story of burnout, losing my sense of self, and learning how to rebuild from the inside out. So many of us define ourselves by jobs, achievements, or expectations… until something breaks and we’re forced to ask much deeper questions.

🧘‍♀️ The Power of Grounding

Before any inner work, we have to arrive. Even a few slow breaths can bring your whole brain back online. It changes the quality of your choices and the clarity of your thinking.

🎨 Creativity, Conditioning & “Un-molding”

We talked about how early in life we’re trained to shrink, to conform, to abandon certain parts of ourselves just to fit in. And how adulthood becomes the work of peeling back those layers and reconnecting to what’s always been true.

✨ Purpose as a Way of Living, Not a Job Title

Purpose doesn’t have to be dramatic. It doesn’t require a career change or a grand mission. It’s simply the direction your energy naturally wants to move — the qualities you bring into the world when you’re aligned.

📘 The Joy-Guided Purpose Framework

I also shared my worksheet designed to help you track your sparks, notice your patterns, and take small, meaningful steps toward a more purposeful life. It’s included below if you’d like to try it.

A final reminder

Joy is not a reward you earn at the end.
Joy is the compass.
And you deserve to follow where it leads.

Thank you again to Jen and everyone who joined us live.
It was an honor to share that space with you.

If you’d like support integrating these ideas into your daily life, Inner Edge Studio is where I guide people more deeply through clarity, emotional steadiness, boundaries, and aligned decision-making — all through simple, science-backed micro-practices.
